BERNHARD GFRERER

Is one of Austria's leading concert organists,
equally in demand worldwide for concerto appearances, solo recitals,
as master teacher and adjudicator.

Born in Salzburg, Austria, Gfrerer received his training at the prestigious Mozarteum Music University, where he graduated „summa cum laude“ with diplomas in Organ, Improvisation and Conducting, and received the „Price of Excellence“ from the Austrian Ministry for Cultural Affairs.

His extensive concert tours have taken him tot he most prominent music centers in Europe (e.g. Vienna, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Budapest, Venice, Madrid, Milan, Zürich, Munich, etc.), as well as South America, Japan, Russia, China and the USA. His interpretations are known for their brilliant technique combined with superb musicianship.

Particularly known for his interpretations of W.A.Mozart's music, both on the organ and as a conductor of his sacred choral works, Bernhard Gfrerer has produced several recordings for ORF,RAI,RIAS Berlin, Radio Hongkong, as well as EMI-Columbia, Domino, Sunrise Music and Tomen International Cultural Fund.

Bernhard Gfrerer is Director of Music at Salzburg's historic Franciscan Church, where he also directs an International Concert Series and frequently performed with the International Music Festival. He also is organ professor at Salzburg's City Conservatory, and has taught in masterclasses in the USA, Japan, Spain, Suisse, Poland and Brasil, and served as a jury member for international organ competitions.


BERNHARD GFRERER

Nato a Salisburgo, ha compiuto gli studi musicali al „Universität Mozarteum“, diplomandosi con lode unanime e ottenendo tre primi premi: in Pianoforte, Organo e Composizione e quello di Interpretazione da parte del Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione di Vienna.

All' età di 24 anni è stato nominato organista titolare della famosa „Franziskanerkirche“ a Salisburgo. Dal 1981 è Direttore artistico del Festival Internazionale di Organo e Professore d'Organo nel Conservatorio della stessa città. Mentre dal 1987 è Direttore del Coro e dell'Orchestra della „Franziskanerkirche“, con cui ha eseguito celebri concerti di Musica Sacra (tutte le Messe di Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, etc.) e serate musicali con artisti di fama mondiale come Placido Domingo, José Carreras, James King, Marjana Lipovsek, Peter Lukas Graf, e altri.

L'attività didattica lo ho portato a tenere corsi di perfezionamento negli U.S.A., in Polonia, Spagna, Colombia, Brasile e Giappone.

La sua carriera di concertista eccezionalmentebrillante lo ha portato ad esibirsi in tutti i grandi centri d'Europa come Parigi, Berlino,Vienna,
Roma, Madrid, Zurigo, Amsterdam, Budapest, Milano, Barcellona, Dublin, Amburgo, Copenhagen, Bruxelles, Venezia, Napoli, ecc., nelli U.S.A., nell' America del Sud (Bogotà, Rio de Janeiro, San Paolo), in U.R.S.S. e in Asia (Tokyo,Osaka,Hongkong).

È stato nominato membro della giuria nei concorsi di organo internazionali di grande respiro. Oltre a queste attività, ha effetuato numerose incisioni per radio, televisioni e case discografiche: CD per la Domino, EMI-Columbia (l'opera completa di Mozart), Sunrise Music Inc. e per Tomen Int.Cultural Fund Tokyo.
